Marc’s Treehouse Lodge is located in the Motlala Game Reserve which is home to 3 of the Big 5 (rhino, buffalo and leopard) and an abundance of antelope. Motlala Game Reserve falls within the Greater Kruger National Park and is ideally located to the iconic Kruger Park and the major tourist attractions of the Hoedspruit region. 

The tented accommodation at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge is rustic but comfortable. The canvas safari tents are tucked away in a woodland grove with the sights, sounds and scents of the wild African bush creating an authentic safari experience.

Each safari tent is fully-equipped for comfort and convenience, including electric fans and mosquito nets. Guests enjoy watching the parade of animals that come down to the Klaserie River on their private wooden deck overlook the Klaserie River . 

A’zambezi River Lodge ǀ Accommodation in Victoria Falls

The Blue House ǀ Accommodation in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town

The Blue House is a historic Victorian guesthouse located in Tamboerskloof in the heart of the Cape City Bowl. Guests staying at the striking modern guesthouse enjoy stunning views of Table Mountain and Lions Head and are only a short 10-minute driver from the main city attractions. This includes the Kloof Street, Long Street, the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Civic Theatre, Atlantic Seaboard and a selection of some of the most outstanding beaches on the Cape coastline.

Each spacious room is ensuite and stylishly decorated. Standard features include air-conditioning, ensuite bathrooms, tea/coffee-making facilities, flatscreen TV and digital satellite service and access to free Wi-Fi. Guests relax around a sparkling swimming pool and eat meals in the guesthouse dining room if not going out to one of the many excellent restaurants in Tamboerskloof.

Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg - Soweto

Guests are collected from OR Tambo International Airport and taken to a lodge just a short drive from the airport. Once settled in and freshened up; we depart for an afternoon tour of Soweto, South Africa’s largest urban settlement and the home of the great Nelson Mandela. The tour takes you to the famous Vilakazi Street and historic sites that commemorate the people of Soweto’s fight for freedom and equality.

Overnight at Saba Airport Lodge. Guests dine at the guest lodge restaurant.

Day 2: Johannesburg - Motlala ǀ Greater Kruger (approx 460 kilometres)

After breakfast, we depart for Motlala Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park. The 5-6 hour drive takes you from the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the lush Lowveld valley to the northern region of Mpumalanga. We stop along the way for lunch and arrive in Balule early afternoon.

Settle into your accommodation; freshen up and relax before departing late afternoon for your first game drive in the beautiful game reserve. Expect to see the Big 5 and an incredible array of antelope, predators and birdlife. Return to your lodge after sundowners.

Day 3: Motlala ǀ Greater Kruger

The day starts with hot beverages and rusks as the sun rises over the Greater Kruger National Park. Guests are driven to a remote area in the game reserve for a 4-hour guided bush walk in the company of a professional game ranger. 

Return to your lodge for a late breakfast. Enjoy a wonderful relaxing day until it’s time for a late afternoon game drive in Motlala Game Reserve.

Day 4: Motlala - Kruger National Park

Early wake-up, hot beverages and breakfast before departing for a safari tour of the Kruger National Park. Guests travel in an open safari vehicle in the company of a professional game ranger. A full day is spent exploring the central-eastern region of the Kruger Park which is renowned for its outstanding biodiversity and Big 5 wildlife sightings.

Lunch at a popular Kruger Park rest camp and some time to relax before departing for the return drive through the Kruger Park to Motlala Game Reserve.

Day 5: Motlala - Panorama Route - Johannesburg (approx 450 kilometres)

Enjoy your last game drive in the Greater Kruger before departing for the return trip to Johannesburg. We take the scenic route via the famous Panoramic Route, stopping along the way for refreshment breaks and lunch. Arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon.

Overnight at Saba Airport Lodge. Eat in or dine out at Emperor’s Palace.

Day 6: Johannesburg - Victoria Falls

Today we fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the ‘Adrenalin Capital of Africa’. Arrive mid-day and catch a transfer shuttle to your safari lodge. 

Relax and freshen up before it’s time to enjoy a magnificent sunset Zambezi boat cruise chartered by Ra-Ikane Cruise. Big 5 wildlife sightings, incredible scenery and sundowner drinks and snacks… the perfect way to end a day in Africa.

Overnight at A’Zambezi River Lodge. Eat in or dine out in Victoria Falls.

Day 7: Victoria Falls

After breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the iconic Victoria Falls National Park which includes the lush rainforest and spectacular waterfall. Young children are allowed to join the tour at the discretion of the Wild Horizons guide. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure; ask MoAfrika Tours to book activities that interest you (for your own cost).

The choice of things to do in Victoria Falls is endless; from the sedate to the heart-pumping. Known as the ‘Adrenalin Capital of Africa’, you can bungee jump 100 plus metres off a railway bridge, go white water rafting down the Batoka Gorge or swim in Devil’s Pool on the edge of the mighty waterfall. Otherwise, opt for High Tea at Victoria Falls Hotel and a leisurely game drive.

Day 8: Victoria Falls - Johannesburg - Cape Town (2-hour flight not included in rate)

You have time for a quick trip into town for some souvenir shopping and then it’s off to the Victoria Falls Airport for the return flight back to Johannesburg, and connecting flight to Cape Town. Arrive in the Mother City late afternoon; settle into your accommodation and either relax or catch a shuttle into the City Bowl for a night out on the town.

Day 9: Cape Town

Today, you can do anything. Ask MoAfrika Tours to book you a guided tour of the City Bowl which includes the South African National Art Gallery, the Company’s Gardens, Long Street and Kloof Street and the historic Cape Town Harbour. Otherwise, you can use the official hop-on/hop-off City Sightseers bus. 

Another option is take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain or catch a shuttle ferry to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years.

Day 10: Cape Peninsula Tour

Today is reserved for a full-day guided tour of the magical Cape Peninsula. This takes you on a scenic journey from the Atlantic Seaboard to Cape Point at the southern-tip of Africa; passing through the gorgeous coastal towns of Clifton and Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Simon’s Town and Muizenberg. 

What you want to do is up to you; spend time with the penguins at Boulders Beach, have fish and chips at Kalk Bay, browse through the art shops in Kalk Bay or explore Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens… the choice is endless.

Day 11: Cape Winelands Tour

There’s one reason to visit the Cape and that’s to sample some of the finest wines in the world on a full-day tour of the Cape Winelands. Enjoy three wine tastings at award-winning wine farms, a cheese tasting and cellar tour in Stellenbosch and Paarl, followed by a leisurely tram ride through the Franschhoek wine valley. You can also visit the Drakenstein Prison, formerly known as Victor Verster Prison, where Nelson Mandela spent the last days of his captivity.

Day 12: Cape Town

It’s been a busy few days so your last day in Cape Town is spent at your leisure. If you’re keen, ask MoAfrika Tours to book you something exciting like a shark cage diving tour or an ocean safari tour to the seal islands off Hout Bay.

Day 13: Cape Town - Johannesburg (2-hour return flight not included in tour fee)
