Guests stay in canvas safari tents in a private campsite in the historic Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. It’s the perfect choice for an authentic safari experience, with views of the beautiful woodland surrounds.
Pretoriuskop Rest Camp
Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is located in the southern section of the Kruger National Park which is renowned for its incredible biodiversity and high concentration of wildlife and birds. It’s surrounded by kiaat woodlands and savanna grasslands which is home to the Big 5 and an array of antelope.
Accommodation at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp ranges from budget-friendly campsites for tents and caravans and self-catering bungalows to family cottages and luxury guest houses. A recent addition is a luxury tented campsite that is situated on the fence overlooking the surrounding leafy woodlands.
There is a fully-stocked convenience store at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp and the restaurant which offers tourists simple, affordable meals. Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is best known for its spectacular swimming pool that’s built up against a flat granite boulder.
Guests are collected from OR Tambo International Airport or a pre-arranged hotel/guest lodge within the city precinct of Johannesburg or Pretoria. The route to the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga Province takes you from the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld region.
Stopover for lunch along the way (own expense). Arrive in Pretoriuskop Rest Camp mid-day; book into your tented accommodation in the private campsite, freshen up and rest. A SANParks ranger will arrive mid-afternoon to collect you for a wonderful sunset safari tour of the southern section of Kruger Park. Return to your camp after the sun sets.
Overnight at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. A 3-course dinner is served under the stars in the private camp. Wine is served with dinner. Soft drinks and other alcoholic drinks can be bought from the convenience shop in the rest camp.
Wake up early (5h30-6h00) for a glorious sunrise game drive with a SANParks ranger. Return to Pretoriuskop Rest Camp mid-morning for a late breakfast.
Depart after breakfast for the return drive to Johannesburg. Stop for snacks and drinks along the way. Guests dropped off at OR Tambo International Airport or your hotel or guest lodge.
Guests are collected and dropped off at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. By special request, guests can be collected from their accommodation in Johannesburg or Pretoria for an additional cost.

If you plan to fly out of OR Tambo International Airport on the last day of the safari tour, we suggest reserving a domestic flight that departs no earlier than 19h30 and an international flight that departs no earlier than 21h00.
For overnight accommodation close to OR Tambo International Airport, we recommend Saba Lodge. The lodge is owned and operated by Moafrika Tours and complimentary transfers to/from the airport and Saba Lodge are available on request.
