Day 1: Kampala

Day 2: Kampala – Fort Portal – Kibale National Park (495 Kilometers)

Early wake up for breakfast. Check out of hotel and depart for Fort Portal in western Uganda. Fort Portal lies on the northern foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and is the gateway to the most popular tourist attractions in Uganda.

Stopover for lunch and continue onto Kibale National Park.

Overnight in Kibale Forest Camp (budget option) or Primate Lodge Upgrade (luxury option). Dinner served in the lodge restaurant.

Day 3: Kibale National Park

Wake up early (6h30) for breakfast. Depart for a full morning in Kibale National Park on an exciting chimpanzee trekking expedition.Return to your hotel for lunch.

Note: for an extra fee, you can participate in a full-day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience.

The afternoon activity is a 3-hour nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary in Kibale National Park, otherwise known as the Magombe swamp. It’s a fascinating wilderness region that’s home to an outstanding array of animals and birds, including several primate species such as the red, white and blue colobus and the L’Hoest monkey.

Overnight at Kibale Forest Camp or Primate Lodge Upgrade. Dinner is served in the lodge restaurant.

Day 4: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park (142 Kilometers)

Early wake up (7h00) for breakfast. Check out of your hotel and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Stopover for lunch along the way. Enjoy a wonderful safari tour of the national park as you make your way to your hotel.

Overnight at Bush Lodge (budget option) or Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury option). Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early wake up (6h30) for breakfast. Depart for a full morning safari tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Return to your hotel for a light lunch and rest.

Depart early afternoon (14h00) for a 2-hour boat cruise; enjoying outstanding wildlife sightings and some of the best birding in Africa. Overnight at Bush Lodge (budget option) or Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury option). Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (155 Kilometers)

Early wake up for breakfast. Check out your hotel and depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Stopover for lunch at Ishasha which is world-famous for its tree-climbing lions.

Overnight in Buhoma Community Camp (budget option) or Buhoma Lodge (luxury option). Dinner is served in the lodge restaurant.

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early (6h30) for breakfast and then depart for a full morning in the national park on a gorilla trekking expedition.

Return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest. The afternoon activity is a visit to the Buhoma village and community centre to learn more about the Batwa tribe and their traditional way of life. Overnight in Buhoma Community Camp or Buhoma Lodge. Dinner is served in the lodge restaurant.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kampala (456 Kilometers)

Early wake up (6h00) for breakfast. Check out your hotel and depart for Kampala. Lunch at a viewpoint along the way.

Arrive in Kampala late afternoon; drop off at Entebbe Airport or a hotel/guest house within the city precinct.

Good to know:

Gorilla trekking is dependent on the availability of permits at the time of your booking. Gorilla permits in all the national parks of Uganda and Rwanda are in high demand; we advise that you book your tour well in advance to avoid disappointment.

If gorilla permits are not available for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, it’s possible to see the mountain gorillas at Rushaaga which is 7 kilometres from the town of Kisoro in Uganda or you can opt to cross the border into Rwanda.
