Namibia is one of the most popular 4×4 destinations in southern Africa. Your guide will skillfully navigate the desert for the adventure of a lifetime.

Bird viewing

Sandwich Harbour is home to an array of migratory and resident bird species. Some of the birds you should spot include the Great White pelicans, Damara tern, Lesser flamingo, sanderling, and chestnut-banded plover, depending on which time of the year you visit.

The towering dunes of Namibia, the country’s incredible landscapes and the misty coastline combine to create breathtaking landscapes. A trip to this part of the Namib Desert is a dream come true for photographers and nature lovers.

Should tides and weather conditions prevent access to the Sandwich Lagoon, your guide will take you to a view point instead.

Itinerary

Day 1 -

Departure

We pick you up in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund. There’s a short safety briefing before we get on our way.

Walvis Bay Lagoon & salt refinery

We make our way to the Walvis Bay Lagoon which is home to an abundance of birdlife. It’s a RAMSAR site of significant value. The salt refinery is our next stop. Salt is one of the most important natural resources in the country.

Namib Naukluft National Park

The Namib Naukluft National Park is more than 49 000 km2 in size. Exploring the sand dunes near Sandwich Bay in a 4x4 vehicle is a highlight on any Namibia adventure.

On top of a 100-metre dune in Sandwich Lagoon, you’ll have a brilliant view of the blue ocean waters meeting the sandy brown dunes below. Now is the time to take some photos if you haven’t taken out your camera already.

Enjoy lunch on the dune or in a calm spot in the desert, depending on the wind conditions.

Return to Walvis Bay

We make our way back to Walvis Bay, looking for wildlife on our way back to the drop-off point.
