On a tour of the Cape Peninsula, you can take the Flying Dutchman Funicular to the top of the hill at Cape Point. The railway line runs from a lower station at the Cape Point car park, up a steep incline through dense fynbos to the upper lighthouse.
The Cape Point funicular leaves the lower station every 3 minutes and whisks up to 450 visitors to the top per hour. You can walk to the top of Cape Point but it’s much more fun to take the funicular. The Flying Dutchman Funicular is the only commercial funicular of its type in Africa and is named after the local legend of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship.

District Six Museum is located in a former inner-city residential area in an old Methodist Church. It was established in 1994 as a memorial to the 60 000 inhabitants who were forcibly removed from the district during the brutal apartheid era in South Africa.

The Houses of Parliament are the foothills of Table Mountain in the heart of the Cape Town City Bowl. Tokai Forest is a picturesque retreat located in the heart of the suburb of Tokai. It’s a popular destinations for strollers, joggers and dog walkers and also offers picnic spots for day visits.
The forest was established in 1885 when 1 555 trees were planted by Joseph Storr Lister who was the forest conservator for the Cape Colony. Lister’s Place is a charming tea garden located at the Arboretum. You can get a hot or cold drink at the tea garden and a light meal. The tea garden is wheel-chair friendly.

The World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary & Monkey Park is a great place to take kids while on holiday in Cape Town. It’s also a lot of fun for adults. The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world. It was opened in 2017 and houses what is regarded to be one of the world’s leading collections of contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora.
The collection includes works by such eminent artists as Chris Ofili, Kudzanai Chiurai, Kehinde Wiley, Glenn Ligon, Marlene Dumas, Wangechi Mutu, and Julie Mehretu. The public not-for-profit museum was commissioned through a public/private partnership between the V&A Waterfront and German businessman, Jochen Zeitz who also loaned his extensive art collection to the museum.
