Itinerary

Day 1 - Whale, Wine and Wors Tour

Stellenbosch

We start the day with a visit to Oom Samie Se Winkel in Stellenbosch. This historic general dealership is over 115 years old. You can find old-fashioned hardboiled sweets and antique items tucked among fresh fruit and veggies and local craft products.

Our next stop is Middelvlei Wine Estate which is a run by the Momberg family. Its history dates back to 1919. Enjoy a selection of red and white wines and learn more about the fascinating wine-making process. The cellar tour is just as interesting. You’ll find out why different types of oak is used to construct barrels and how this affects the taste of wine.

Grabouw

We head to the beautiful town of Grabouw in the Overberg region. Your visit starts with samples of Everson’s Ciders, paired with tasty boerewors (traditional South African sausage) and fresh produce from a popular local farm stall called Peregrine.

Hermanus

Finally, we arrive in Hermanus at one of the world’s most popular land-based whale watching spots. Bear in mind, whale sightings are seasonal and cannot be guaranteed. Sit down for a delightful lunch before we embark on the drive back to Cape Town, taking the scenic Clarence route which is renowned for its incredible views.

Gordon’s Bay

Our last stop for the day is Red Sky Brewery, and what a way to end the day. Although the brewer has extensive wine-making experience, his passion is craft beer. At Red Sky Brewery, they still mash ale grain in barrels.

Learn more about the art of making craft beer and sample their finest selection. This includes gluten-free beer, a wine and beer blend as well as an award-winning craft beer. Enjoy a tasting of the locally-crafted beers before we make our way back to Cape Town.
