The day gets off to a great start with a scenic and thrilling journey through coastal towns that resemble oasis as you follow the coast while being embraced by national parks with lush forests. The Garden Route will be waiting for you in all its splendour after approximately four hours of driving southeast!
Botlierskop Game Reserve is located further down the N2 national road. An exhilarating safari experience in the native bushveld is the perfect way to begin your tour. Botlierskop Private Game Reserve is a malaria-free area where you can go on an open-air 4x4 safari and see some of Africa's wild animals.

Highlights of today include a visit to the Knysna Heads viewpoint, an optional Waterfall Zipline, optional Bloukrans Bungy Jump, and a Tsitsikamma National Park walk.
Coastal towns that look like something out of a fairy tale showcase why this area is so popular with both tourists and locals as you make your way along the coast. Knysna Heads are two rocky sandstone cliffs that sit atop the lagoon. Take a moment to stop and pose for a photo as you take in the views of the lagoon and the old forests that surround it.
Today is all about the "garden" of the Garden Route - from ziplining over gushing river gorges to exploring dense forests along suspension bridges and footpaths in Tsitsikamma National Park - adrenaline and beautiful landscapes go hand in hand on this action-packed adventure.
Thrill seekers can brace theselves for the world's tallest bungy bridge jump. As you drive over the bungy bridge, it does not look like much. However, the squeals and screams make it clear that this is not your typical photo stop. Here, seemingly average folks yo-yo their way back up the 216-meter drop before hurtling down the other side. Why not overcome your fears and give it a shot if you are in the mood for adventure?
For a less strenuous adrenaline rush, consider Waterfall Swinging through the nearby Tsitsikamma forest on zip lines while gliding past breath-taking waterfalls. You will go down one spectacular gorge, zip over three waterfalls, and complete approximately five separate slides, the longest of which is 211 metres.
If you would rather not get your feet wet in the water, but still want to experience the wonders of nature, a trip to the verdant Tsitsikamma National Park is just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy activities, such as birding, game viewing, and waterfall chasing. Just the views from Tsitsikamma's suspension bridge make the short but steep hike there worthwhile, but the forest footpaths lead to a secret waterfall, sandy beach, and a plethora of reptiles and birds that will astound and delight you.
As the sun sets behind the ocean in the early evening, the journey continues along the coast to reach Jeffreys Bay, surf-central. As the sun goes down, unwind with a meal at your hotel or try a local seafood specialty while listening to the soft lapping of the waves.
You will overnight in Jeffreys Bay at the Island Vibe Backpackers (shared bathrooms) or similar.
Travel time ± 4hr / ± 250km
Today you can look forward to highlights like surfing or beach horseback rides – both optional – and a tour bus game drive in Addo National Park.
You can start the day with a relaxed morning at the beach while enjoying the warmer Indian ocean waters. You can indulge your shopping addiction at JBay's surf wear shoppers village, or you can surf at this world-renowned surf spot. Feel free to customise your morning to your liking by selecting from the following options: If you have the time, you can rent surfboards and take surf lessons. Another optional activity is beach horseback riding, where you can gallop through the shallow waters of the untamed, rocky beach while exploring the coast.
Following a morning of beach activities, the adventure continues inland to the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park, where visitors can observe native animals in their natural environment.
The barren Klein Karoo plains give way to verdant horizons as you make your way to the world-famous Greater Addo Region. As you expertly traverse the park's network of dusty dirt roads in pursuit of the Big Five and other large and small animals, your knowledgeable guide will draw on local knowledge to identify their exact locations.
The tiny citrus growing town of Addo, nestled in the valley of the Sundays River and bordered by the Zuurberg Mountains, is where you will spend the night.
Overnight at Avoca Rooms Backpackers (shared bathrooms).
Travel time ± 4hr / ± 300km
Highlights to look forward to, include a Cango Caves tour and an optional elephant observation experience.
Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, is situated in the semi-desert Klein Karoo. On your journey to the mountains, you will pass through landscapes of rugged plains and towering cliffs.
Discover the enchanted Cango Caves, a network of limestone caverns teeming with stalactites, stalagmites, drip formations, and Khoikhoi artefacts. Take it easy on the Heritage Tour and listen to your guide explain the cave's formation and the evolution of dripstone while you listen to the acoustics. If you are looking for a more daring underground adventure, though, the Adventure Tour (when it is available) lets you try your hand at contortion as you wind your way through limestone chimneys.
An optional Elephant Observation in Nature experience can be arranged by rangers at the Buffelsdrift private game reserve this afternoon for those who wish to get up close and personal with Mother Nature, provided time permits (or the next morning in most cases).
Observe Jabari, Malaika, and Bulelo, three rescued elephants, as they frolic in the bushveld near a dam that holds water. The northern region of South Africa was the site of poaching, leaving these docile giants without parents. Despite their rowdy dispositions, they were relocated to Buffelsdrift in an attempt to preserve the family unit together. Following in the guides' enormous footsteps is the perfect opportunity to get some great distant shots and ask them all the questions you want.
The town of Oudtshoorn is perfect for a relaxing evening in the country. Indulge in some local specialties like ostrich "sosaties" (kebabs) and "pot brood" (bread cooked on open flames) at an optional "braai" (bbq) experience, or simply relax under the starry country sky as you dine at a restaurant recommended by your guide.

Get a feel for farming at the Cango Ostrich Show Farm, where you can go beak-to-beak with the largest bird in the world and see how hard their shells are.
Drive through mountain passes where sluggish baboons amuse and surprise drivers; through rolling farmlands where fertile microclimates settle among rows and rows of grapevines; and through ever-changing scenery as you complete this epic road trip.
Make your way along the world's longest wine route, Route62, which was inspired by America's Route 66 but has a decidedly regional flavour. A leisurely drive is not the only thing you can enjoy on this trip; you can also sample world-class wines, meet larger-than-life local characters, and immerse yourself in the local culture of country living.
Stopping for a wine tasting and sampling some local produce around halfway to your overnight stop is sure to satisfy wine lovers. With a glass of wine in hand, there are few things more to see than the inherent majestic beauty of this Valley of Wine. If you do not drink or are under the legal drinking age, we have non-alcoholic options for you.
You will overnight in Cape Town at Never@Home or similar (shared bathrooms).
Travel time ± 8hrs / ±200km

The day begins with a stop at Hout Bay, a fishing village on the northern side of Chapman's Peak. From here, you can take a short boat ride to Duiker Island, where there is a seal colony. Instead of getting wet, landlubbers should peruse the local harbour market for picturesque fishing boats to photograph for social media.
The route departs from Hout Bay and winds its way through nine jaw-dropping kilometres, encompassing an astounding 114 bends. There is a solid reason why Chapman's Peak road is hailed as one of the most picturesque drives in the world. Unparalleled views of the Atlantic below are offered by the roadway, an astonishing engineering achievement that slices through the rugged mountains that meet the Atlantic.
You continue your journey to the Cape of Good Hope, the farthest point southwest in Africa. The picturesque jagged shoreline adorned with greenish fringes of fynbos is the result of the literal collision of water and wilderness here.
Views from the Cape's whitewashed lighthouse, which are well worth the ascent, are accompanied by indigenous fauna that line the narrow, winding pathways leading there. Wildlife such as ostriches, baboons, and bontebok and other antelope species make the trip more exciting and provide photographers with plenty of photo ops.
An optional funicular on the hillside makes the ascent to the lighthouse easier for those who wish to do so.

Beautiful Boulders Beach, with its granite pebbles, is just a short distance to the south. The black-and-white feathered finery of the African penguins is on display for the delight of the crowds at this popular spot.
