Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge is situated on the side of Tweedepoort Ridge in the magical Madikwe Game Reserve with incredible views over the gorge below and vast savanna plains. The 75 000-hectare private game reserve is located in a malaria-free region on the border of Botswana. The ecology is a seamless blend of dry Kalahari thornveld and lush Lowveld vegetation.
Each chalet is stylishly decorated in natural hues of colour and texture and offers guests tranquility and privacy with its own viewing deck. The main lodge is built on two tiers and each level is accessed via a wooden bridge that crosses a ravine that’s a mass of lush vegetation and dramatic rock figs. The views are breathtaking and the lodge atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Children of all ages are welcome at Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge. However, children 6 years and younger are not permitted on the open safari vehicles. Mini-morning game drives suitable for children can be pre-booked and babysitters are available on request.

Guests are picked up early in Johannesburg and driven to Madikwe Game Reserve. It’s approximately 4.5 hours to the game reserve and we arrive at Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge late morning. Settle into your luxury suite; relax and freshen up before it’s time to depart for the late-afternoon game drive. Game drives are in an open safari vehicle with a professional ranger. Return to the lodge after an exciting night drive and enjoy a starlit dinner at the outdoor boma or in lodge dining room.

Wake up early for hot beverages and then depart for a 3-hour sunrise game drive.
