2-day Big 5 budget safari tour and fully-catered overnight stay in standard rooms at the safari lodge at Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve in the magical Ceres Karoo. Our tour takes you on a scenic journey from Cape Town through the tropical fruit-growing region of Ceres to Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve in the Little Karoo. The 10 000-hectare game reserve is located in a malaria-free area and is home to an array of wild animals, including the Big 5 and a thriving coalition of cheetah.
Two days at Inverdoorn is a magical combination of delicious meals, glorious views, relaxing evenings around a roaring fire pit, peace and tranquility in striking surrounds and the highlight of a wonderful sunset and sunrise game drive in an open safari vehicle.
ACCOMMODATION
Guests stay in standard rooms at the safari lodges at Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve. There are three separate safari lodges on the property, each with its own charm and all of them in close proximity to the lodge facilities.
Two of the three lodges have a communal lounge area made cosy by fireplaces and complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities. All lodge rooms have an ensuite bathroom (shower only) and air conditioning which can be used for heating or cooling. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available.
Drive to Inverdoorn via Ceres
The scenic drive from Cape Town to Inverdoorn Game Reserve takes you through the tropical fruit-growing area of Ceres. The valley was named after the Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility and is renowned for its spectacular beauty and vast fruit plantations.
Buffet lunch, check-in and afternoon tea
After welcome drinks, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch (from 13h00) served under the trees or in the Main Rondawel restaurant. Check into your room from 14h00. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring the gardens or relaxing in your room. Join everyone on the deck for afternoon tea or coffee at 16h00 in summer and 15h30 in winter.
Sunset Big 5 safari tour
The afternoon game drive in an open safari vehicle departs at 17h00 in summer or 16h00 in winter. Blankets and hot water bottles are provided in cold weather; bring warm jackets, beanies and gloves.
The length of the safari tour depends on what you see and stop for but it’s generally between 2&half to 3 hours long, returning to the lodge between 19h30 and 20h00.
Pre-dinner drinks, 5-course set menu dinner and overnight stay
Freshen up in your room and then join your hosts for pre-dinner drinks (own cost) at the boma or indoors in the cosy lounge and bar area. A 5-course set-menu dinner is served in the Traditional Rondavel restaurant around the fire pit (weather dependent) from 20h00 in summer and 19h30 in winter.
After dinner, relax around the roaring fire while your ranger serves drinks from the bar (own cost). Retire to your room and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in the stillness of the Ceres Karoo.
Sunrise Big 5 safari tour
Early wake-up for a 2&half to 3-hour sunrise safari tour at 06h00 in summer and 07h00 in winter. The length of the safari tour depends on what you see and stop for; expect to return to the lodge between 08h30 to 09h00.
Breakfast and check-out
Hot beverages to welcome you back to the lodge. A hearty breakfast buffet-style is served from 09h00. Check-out time is 10h00. Relax around the lodge or go for a nature walk until it’s time to depart for Cape Town at 12h30. Your guide returns you to your accommodation in Cape Town mid-afternoon.
