The mighty Zambezi River cascades over the falls edge, dropping 90 metres down into the Zambezi Gorge; sending a column of spray towering high into the air when the river is high. Accommodation
llala Lodge is a family-run boutique hotel that lies nestled in a lush garden on the Zimbabwe side of the Falls. It’s so close to the iconic waterfall that you can feel the spray on your face when sitting outside on the large terrace that runs the length of the front of the lodge. Wild animals graze on the hotel lawn, wandering in from the beautiful surrounding bushveld that falls within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya nature reserve.
The secluded and stylishly decorated lodge is more suited to the mature traveller; it exudes romance and is idyllically quiet and tranquil even though it’s only an easy 8-minute walk from the centre of town. The luxury Strathearn Suite is a popular option for discerning guests and comes complete with its own private lounge and balcony, with intimate dinners prepared by a personal chef. Interleading doors into a deluxe and executive suite opens it up into a family suite suitable for 6 guest.
Accommodation ranges from standard rooms to the executive suites, and come standard with ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning, flatscreen TVs with satellite channels and a tea and coffee station. Guests dine at the award-winning Palm Restaurant, or poolside under the starry African sky. Wireless internet access is available throughout the exclusive lodge.
