Pretoria is the capital of South Africa and therefore full of historic sites.
We visit the Union Buildings, headquarters of the government. The buildings are beautifully situated in terraced gardens, trough which you can enjoy an idyllic walk.
Another major attraction on this tour is the Voortrekker Monument. This monument is of great significance to many Afrikaans speaking South Africans, there it stands for Afrikaner Nationalism. The monument is in the shape of a big stone cube. The interior walls depict the story of the Great Trek, a mass movement of Afrikaner Boers who resented British rule.
Next interesting site on our tour is the Paul Kruger House Museum. Kruger National Park is named after Paul Kruger. Learn more about this fascinating man and his life. The house displays furniture and personal items of the Kruger family.
Pretoria has character in its buildings and during this city architecture tour you will be given ample opportunity to ask your guide about the history behind the buildings and culture. We visit Church Square with prominent buildings like the Ou Raadsaal, Palace of Justice and Capital Theatre. We can talk for hours about Pretoria, and we will when you are with us! Clement, our guide & driver, took us to all the well known spots in Pretoria. He gave us plenty of time to view all we wanted and he imparted plenty of knowledge and facts to us.
Picked up promptly by Stanley our guide, who the gave a whistle stop tour of Soweto. Stanley was extremely friendly and very informative. First stopping at the football stadium, before driving past many well know historical places, getting out at Freedom Square and Hector Pieterson Museum. We were told in great detail about history of Soweto in the past and present, both informative and quite humbling.
I had a great tour of Pretoria today with Stanley. He is very knowledgeable and personable. I would not hesitate to recommend him.
I had a great time with Sipho “Sugar” as my guide. He knew all the good photo spots and had lots of interesting stories to tell. I especially enjoyed the Vortrekker monument where I had as much time as I needed to look around and also the beautiful union buildings including the gardens.
First of all the tour guy Stanley was amazing, he educated us about the history of South Africa and the history behind pretoria. The tour was amazing and will recommend this to each and every person going to south aftrica and I hope they get Stanley
Our guide, Stanley with MoAfrika tours, had an outstanding knowledge of South Africa history and politics. He explained the sites and history in a concise and interesting way, and answered our questions. We had enough time at each site. We had one day to sight-see in Pretoria and this was the perfect tour. Highly recommend.
Sugar was very friendly, but also informative and candid. It must be difficult for an African to take a white visitor to monuments so closely associated with apartheid but Sugar, when asked, was frank about his feelings. It was an important visit for me, but I appreciate how problematic places like the Voortrekker Monument are. Sugar made it comfortable, but not too comfortable. I recommend him and the tour highly, but don't go into it uninformed or expecting a typical touristic experience.
We were fortunate enough to have Mr. Sugar as our guide tour. He was very knowledgeable, very friendly and a delight to be around. The tours were amazing for a history buff like me. For each place, he would tell us importance of the place, the history and an overview. Then he would let us explore each place at our own place, which we all enjoyed and appreciated. I would definitely recommend MoAfrika tours whenever you are in Johannesburg and I would definitely urge everyone to ask for Mr. Sugar!
The afternoon was very interesting with Gabin as guide ; he really gave a lot of information about the history of the country and of the city of Pretoria. Thank you very much Gabin
