Itinerary

Day 1 - Fauna, Flora and Fermentation Private Tour

Mooiplaas Wine Estate • Stellenbosch

The Roos family has been running Mooiplaas for more than 50 years. The farm was founded in 1806 and the Manor House is a national monument and a perfect example of Cape Dutch architecture. The farm has over a 100 hectares of vineyards as well as the Mooiplaas Private Nature Reserve which spans some 60 hectares.

A guide will lead you to the top of the reserve, where you’ll have a panoramic view of Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, Stellenbosch, Table Bay and False Bay. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy learning about the fynbos and renosterbos plant species, as well as viticulture and wine making. We make our way back to the tasting room where we sample some of Mooiplaas’s award-winning wines.

Hartenberg Wine Estate • Stellenbosch

Our next stop is Hartenberg Wine Estate for a 2-course lunch served under the great oak trees or next to a crackling fire in the winter months. Enjoy a selection of their handpicked wines before embarking on a stroll along the boardwalk in the natural wetlands.

More than 120 bird species inhabit this estate, along with an abundance of wild animals. Hartenberg Wine Estate is a member of Biodiversity and Wine, as well as Integrated Production of Wine.

Villiera Wine Estate • Stellenbosch

Our last stop is Villiera Wine Estate. From small beginnings, this family-run farm has grown to become one of the top wine estates in the Cape Winelands, producing superb award-winning wines. The Grier family is proud of their heritage and has a high regard for social responsibility and nature conservation.

Enjoy the last wine tasting of the day as part of a 2-hour guided game drive. Animals on the reserve include springbuck, giraffe, black wildebeest, eland, zebra and the common duiker.
