Itinerary

Day 1 - Cape Town - Oudtshoorn (440 Kilometres)

Guests are collected in Cape Town early in the morning and driven to Oudtshoorn, the “Ostrich Capital of the World” in the Little Karoo. The scenic drive follows the world-famous Route 62, known as the ‘longest wine route in the world’. The afternoon in Oudtshoorn is spent exploring the magical Cango Caves, an intricate cave system located in Precambrian limestones at the foothills of the Swartberg mountains. This is followed by a visit to a working ostrich farm. Guests can then savor an authentic Karoo dinner at the lodge restaurant.

Day 2 - Oudtshoorn - Wilderness - Plettenberg Bay - Storms River (215 Kilometres)

Wake up early to enjoy breakfast and then depart for the Wilderness area. The journey takes you over the historic Swartberg Mountain Pass, with a stop at the picturesque ‘Map of Africa’ lookout point. This viewpoint offers a bird's eye perspective of the Kaaimans River, creating an unmistakable outline of the African continent as it winds through the lush forest valley. Late morning, you arrive in Knysna. In the afternoon, you explore Knysna Heads and the renowned Knysna Waterfront and Knysna Quays. Later in the afternoon, the journey continues to Plettenberg Bay, with a stop at Bloukrans Bridge Bungy, one of the highest commercial bungee jumping spots in the world, standing 216 meters above the Bloukrans River. If time allows and for an additional fee, you have the opportunity to experience the thrill of bungee jumping off the Bloukrans Bridge, but booking in advance is essential. The day concludes with dinner served at the lodge restaurant.

Day 3 - Storms River - Mossell Bay (200 Kilometres)

After breakfast, depart for a hike in the glorious Tsitsikamma National Park, ending at the Storms River Mouth. You’ll walk across the Hanging Bridge and can swim in the warm Indian Ocean. Depart later for a scenic drive to the Garden Route Game Lodge for a late afternoon safari tour of the Big 5 private game reserve. Dinner served at the lodge restaurant. Overnight at Garden Route Game Lodge.

Day 4 - Mossel Bay - Cape Town

If you upgraded to the safari option, you set off early for a 3-hour morning game drive in the private reserve and then enjoy a hearty breakfast. We depart for the return journey to Cape Town mid-morning, travelling via Hermanus and Betty’s Bay. Hermanus is a popular coastal town on the Garden Route and famous for whale-watching, a vibrant street market, excellent restaurants and wonderful cliffside walkways. Betty’s Bay is famous for its quirky colony of African penguins located at Stony Point. Arrive in Cape Town late afternoon (approx17h00).
