Being established in 1940, Tangala Safari Camp was one of first established safari camps in Thornybush Private Game Reserve and is rich in the history of the region. The camp underwent a renovation in 2016, that saw the introduction to 6 new luxury colonial tents as well as the transition to an ecofriendlier approach to its operation. The camp overlooks an expansive and active waterhole, with the impressive Drakensberg Mountain Range forming the backdrop. Guests are picked up early at OR Tambo
International Airport in Johannesburg and driven to
the Greater Kruger in a luxury tour vehicle. It’s a 5-6
hour drive, with a refreshment stop along the way.
Arrive mid-day, have high tea and relax around camp
before it’s time to depart for a late-afternoon game
drive in Thornybush Private Game Reserve. Return to
camp as the sun is setting and enjoy a fun communal
dinner around the boma. Overnight in a luxury tent or
bush chalet at Tangala Safari Camp. Your package
includes high tea and dinner.
Wake up each morning early for a quick hot beverage and rusk before departing on a 3-hour sunrise game drive in Thornybush Private Game Reserve. Return for a hearty brunch and relax around the camp or participate in a bush walk or other activity. Enjoy high tea and some more relaxation before departing in the late afternoon for a sunset game drive. Be back in time for dinner and another night in a luxury tent or bush chalet at Tangala Safari Camp. Your package includes brunch, high tea, snacks and dinner.
Set off as the sun is rising for your last game drive in Thornybush Private Game Reserve. Enjoy a late breakfast on return before checking out. You will depart late-morning for the return journey to Johannesburg to arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg by late afternoon (approximately 17:00). Your package includes brunch.
