Guests are picked up early in Johannesburg and driven to Madikwe Game Reserve. It’s approximately 4.5 hours to the game reserve and we arrive at Madikwe Bush House late morning. Settle into your luxury suite; relax and freshen up before it’s time to depart for the late-afternoon game drive. Game drives are in an open safari vehicle with a professional ranger. Return to the lodge after an exciting night drive and enjoy a starlit dinner at the outdoor boma or in lodge dining room.
Overnight at Madikwe Bush House in Madikwe Private Game Reserve.
Includes: Dinner
Get up before dawn and have a hot beverage with fellow guests before embarking on the early morning wildlife expedition. It is the finest time of year to watch predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as other animals, since the temperature is much lower. While you go around the park in the 4x4 vehicle, which offers fantastic opportunities for photography, the ranger will present you with intriguing information on the behaviours of various animals and birds.
On your return to the resort for a full breakfast, continue your safari experience by spending some time in the animal "hide," located next to the Bush House waterhole. Animals of varied sizes, such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and zebras, are able to be seen drinking, which makes for some breathtaking photographic opportunities. Prepare for more thrilling experiences as you join your ranger for an evening game drive later in the day, after a delicious tea. The high points of the day will be discussed over a supper of traditional bush cuisine.
On your fourth night in Madikwe Game Reserve, after another fantastic meal, you will embark on an afternoon game drive that has a chance of continuing into the night if there are a lot of animals roaming. At the end of the day, you will eat a delicious feast while sitting around a campfire and listening to traditional bush stories.
Includes: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Relax with a drink on the terrace before catching the morning safari tour in an open vehicle. A leopard or pack of wild dogs are two of Madikwe's most elusive residents, but you could see them on this excursion. Have a coffee break along the route and listen to the early morning sounds of the wilderness. When you return to the lodge for breakfast after a morning in the open, keep an eye out for wild animals. This is also the best time to visit the hide for a last photo op before leaving, when the elephants are drinking. Following breakfast at The Bush House, it's time to check out and begin the drive back to Johannesburg, where you'll either be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
