Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa’s fourth-largest game park, is situated in a crater in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province. This crater is the product of a volcano that erupted many millions of years ago. This extinct volcano has evolved to become one of the most fascinating landscapes for you to visit. By the Genesis project, the majority of South Africa’s wildlife is now found in the Pilanesberg game reserve.

The park covers an area of 55 000 hectares. More than 7000 animals live here in a free and unhindered environment. Pilanesberg is home to all of the BIG 5 (elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo, and lion) and we guarantee that you will be able to tick off most on your list of game sightings! Other animals that you may encounter are zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, jackal, wild cat, various antelope as well as over 300 bird species…the list is endless.

Pilanesberg offers over 200 km of roads for guided or self-drive game viewing. On our tour, you enjoy an extensive game drive conducted by an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide who will answer all your questions about the fascinating wildlife and environment. Bring your camera to have a permanent record of all the wild animals and the spectacular landscape this National Park has to offer.

Day 1 - Full Day Safari Drive

Please note: MoAfrika Tours offers a service where we pick up and drop-off guests staying at Sun City or other accommodation in close vicinity of the game reserve. There is an extra charge for this.

At 9h30, climb aboard an open safari vehicle and head off into the bushveld for a morning game drive. Your guide will take you to popular game viewing spots and be on the lookout for incredible Big 5 sightings.

Please note: The morning game drive is between 2½ to 3 hours long. The exact timing depends on what you see and whether you spend a bit longer at an exciting animal sighting.

From 12h00 and 13h00, enjoy a light lunch and cool-drink at Pilanesberg Centre which overlooks a large waterhole. There’s a small shop at Pilanesberg Centre where you can buy drinks and snacks for later.

The afternoon game drive is in an open safari vehicle and is between 1½ to 2-hours long. Again, the exact timing depends on what you see and how long you spend at an animal sighting.

Your guide takes you back to Bosele Camp at Manyane Resort to pick up your car, arriving at the drop-off point between 15h00 and 15h15. Return transfer to Sun City, if arranged.
