MoAfrika Tours now offers an exciting new 5-day Dzuti Safari Camp in Maseke Game Reserve in the Balule North area of the Greater Kruger Park.

nDzuti tented bush camp is located in the The Maseke Game Reserve in the Balule North area of the Greater Kruger Park and is operated by Wildlife Encounters.

The reserve is made up of four properties totalling 7500 ha that were given to the Maseke Community of Ba-Phalaborwa in April 2014. A fifth property was added to the reserve later, bringing the total area to about 8000 ha (19 800 acres).

As a condition of giving back the land, the farms had to be kept as conservation areas. Today, Maseke is a part of the Greater Kruger Park, which is a huge area of land that spans international borders and has many different types of ecosystems. It is an important part of conservation efforts in Africa.

The camp looks out onto a waterhole where animals come to drink day and night.

Morning and afternoon game drives take place in the huge area of Greater Kruger, where the BIG 5 and many other African animals thrive. These animal sightings can be enjoyed from open safari vehicles and even on foot with an armed guide.

The sparkling swimming pool is the centre of the camp. It is set up on a terrace so that guests can watch animals come to the waterhole from the pool. The reed boma on the western wing and the dining pavilion with its thatched bar finish off the central area. Breakfast and dinner are served in the open-air boma, where you can also see the waterhole. The central fire is a nice place to sit and drink coffee or roast marshmallows after dinner.

The nDzuti Safari Camp is built in the shadow of a beautiful rock outcrop, or “koppie” in Afrikaans. In the Shangaan language, the word nDzuti means “shadow” or “shade.”

The well-kept garden has four well-spaced chalets that are perfect for a group of friends travelling together who want to catch up or for a family with kids who need quiet time to sleep. Each chalet has two bedrooms, a living room, and a patio or deck. The units with thatched roofs have a deep, covered patio with chairs and a coffee table.

A wall of lush plants blocks the path from seeing the patio. French doors lead into the central living room, which has a tea and coffee station, prints of animals, and doors to each of the two bedrooms on opposite sides.

In either summer and winter, the chalets are cool or cosy. The bathroom has both a shower and a bath. Each chalet has a brick path that leads to the main dining pavilion and swimming pool, which are on a hill and look out over the camp waterhole.

The bush camp has a garden with a small splash pool, hammocks, and a thatched lounge area that stays cool during the day. There is no fence around the garden.

The appeal of the Little nDzuti tented bush camp is not the comfort of the rooms, but the adventure of sleeping under a simple canvas roof in a wild area with night sounds and the African bush right on the other side of the screen. On both sides of the tents, there were windows with built-in fly screens that let in a cool breeze. A canvas canopy cover the tents.

The sheets on the beds in the tents are luxurious and the beds are comfortable. There is also a mat, a bedside table, and a place to put your bags. On the small patio are two hand-made “Morris chairs” and a table. A bathroom with a sink, a shower, and a toilet that flushes is outside, on the same slab as the tent. The shower has hot water all day long.

Luxury tents come with their own bathrooms, doors instead of zippers with flaps, and air conditioning.

Guests can expect collection from OR Tambo Airport Bus Terminal by 07:00 for their transfer by road to Balule and nDzuti Camp. You will arrive at the lodge just in time for a light lunch. After lunch, you can unpack, unwind and relax until it I time for the first afternoon safari adventure in an open vehicle.

You will return to the lodge after sunset for dinner under the stars around the fire.

The same itinerary will be followed on Days 2, 3, and 4.

You will have to get up early every morning and will only have time for coffee or tea and rusks before an early morning safari in an open vehicle. This is the best time to see the sun rise over the bushveld and catch predators coming back from their night hunts. Back at the camp, there will be a delicious breakfast waiting for you. After that, you can either sleep or go on a short walking safari.

Around noon, you’ll have a light lunch. After that, you’ll have more time to relax, maybe by the pool, before going on an open-air safari drive at sunset. You might see more interesting things on your afternoon safari before heading back to the camp for a traditional meal under the stars and some time to talk about what you saw and did that day.

On your last morning, you’ll have to get up early again to leave in the open safari vehicle for the last game drive.

You’ll have another delicious breakfast, and then you’ll only have time to gather your bags before leaving the lodge.
