Giving Back One Booking at a Time
R50 per guest booking donated to a Local Care Centre
For every individual booking made through MoAfrika Tours, a R50 donation is made to a village care centre in the area. With the number of guests booking day trips with MoAfrika Tours, the care centres can receive as much as
R10 000 a month in cash donations.
That’s one more reason to book a tour with MoAfrika Tours.
Your donation may go to Motsoaledi Day Care Centre in Soweto or Dixie Village on the outskirts of Sabi Sands. It all depends on the area you’re visiting. The idea is to give back to the people who live in the areas our guests love to visit on our popular tours.

Supporting Soweto
Moafrika Tours has taken visitors on day tours to Soweto for two decades. We’ve met incredible people who are doing so much with so little to improve the lives of people in their community, especially young children.
Owner Anthony Colia established The Motsoaledi Project with the aim being to collect and distribute donations in a more structured manner. The company also makes a monthly cash donation to the Motsoaledi Day Care Centre which is used for building upgrade projects and buying what’s on their “wish list”.
Moafrika Tours supports Soweto in a number of different ways and we love the idea of giving back to the place we have so much fun visiting with our guests. This includes:
- helping community projects to assist the elderly in Soweto
- supporting community garden projects for feeding programmes
- supporting entrepreneurs (small business owners)
- providing for older school-going children (uniforms, stationary, school bags)
Other ways to help
If you’d like to do more to help village centres that provide much-needed care and support in impoverished areas in South Africa, these are your options:
- Make a donation by depositing money into a bank account set up and managed by Moafrika Tours. The account is strictly audited and the money collected is distributed in a structured manner to community organisations supported by Moafrika Tours.
- Ask your tour guide to stop at a shop in Soweto so you can buy goods needed by these organisations. This includes non-perishable food items such as flour and sugar, soft drinks, toiletries such as soap and toothpaste or school stationary.
Moafrika Tours distributes these valuable goods to the community care centres that it supports. Avoid giving cash to needy people in the streets because this encourages begging and some tourists find this awkward and threatening.
Pack for a purpose
Moafrika Tours supports ‘Pack for a Purpose’. Simply use a small amount of space in your luggage to pack supplies needed for community care centres such as school stationary, medical equipment, sports equipment, toys, towels and linen or shoes and clothes.
If you’ve arrived in South Africa with goods you’d like to donate, please give them directly to your tour guide. Moafrika Tours distributes them to needy people at the care centres it supports.
Thank you for your generous donations.
Giving back to the people in communities that we visit daily is extremely important to Moafrika Tours and we value everybody’s kindness and generosity.
