Guests can fly into Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport from either Cape Town or Johannesburg. We will also meet you at Eastgate for transportation to and from Kapama Game Reserve. After a light meal and some time to clean up, you will go on a game drive deep within the reserve with your guide and spotter. Along the route, you will pull over for a drink and some fresh air as the sun sets behind the Drakensberg Mountains. The nocturnal animals of the jungle emerge as dusk approaches. A variety of unique species may be noticed on the way back to the resort at night. The skilled tracker will sweep the landscape with a flashlight that illuminates animal eyes. Arrival at the lodge is usually around 19:00, in time for a delicious lunch. Your accommodation is provided at the exclusive Kapama Karula Lodge.
Today you will rise between 5:00 and 05:30 for tea or coffee and rusks before setting off on a morning game drive. The reserve's wildlife is typically more active in the morning due to the reserve's colder temperatures, and the softer light makes for excellent photographs. After a substantial breakfast at the lodge, you will have time to relax by the pool, read a nice book, and enjoy the rest of the lodge's amenities. After a sumptuous high tea, you will go on an afternoon wildlife drive that may last past twilight; the day will invariably conclude with a delicious dinner and a discussion of the day's sightings. The third and final day of your safari will begin with an early morning wildlife drive and, hopefully, some more unforgettable sightings. After the drive, you will have a scrumptious breakfast back at the lodge before being transferred to the Eastgate airport for your return flight.
