The quaint little town of Ohrigstad is located on the Mpumalanga Escarpment, North of Lydenburg in the province of Limpopo.

The Echo Caves are in the vicinity of Ohrigstad. These prehistoric caves were found in 1923 by a local farmer who was searching for his missing cattle. The caves can be found in a dolomite formation that is situated at the back of a thick layer of Black Reef Quartzite, which is the rock that makes up the Limpopo Escarpment.
