Itinerary

Day 1 : Route 62 & Cango Caves Adventure

Start your day with pickup between 06:00 and 08:00 from Cape Town CBD or Stellenbosch and hit the road along Route 62, the world's longest wine route. Enjoy some stunning views of mountains, valleys, vineyards and orchards, stop at a farm stall to taste local delicacies before reaching Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world and the gateway to the Cango Caves. Explore the underground wonders of the caves, a network of limestone chambers with incredible formations and ancient paintings. Choose between the Heritage Tour, a leisurely walk through the main chambers with great acoustics and insights from your guide, or the Adventure Tour, a more challenging route that involves crawling and squeezing through narrow passages. Spend the night in Oudtshoorn. You can either go to town for a restaurant meal or join an optional outdoor braai – subject to availability - where you can try local specialties like ostrich kebabs, 'boerewors' sausage, 'potbrood' (bread) and salad. You will stay at Uthando Backpackers or similar accommodation, depending on availability.

Day 2 : Wilderness, Bungy & Bush Walks

You can start an early morning by joining an optional (own expense) Elephant Observation Nature Bush Walk to follow and observe three orphaned elephants, rescued from poachers, in a natural habitat. Later, you'll enjoy a relaxing canoe ride along the reed-lined riverbanks in Wilderness and observe the variety of birds in the area. The adventure reaches its peak at Bloukrans Bridge, the world's highest commercial bridge bungy jump where you might dare to plunge 216m down with nothing but an elastic cord (at own expense). If you're not up for the bungy jump, you can take a leisurely walk near the bridge in nature. Spend the evening in Sedgefield, where you can dine at local restaurants. You will overnight at the Pili Pili Backpackers or similar accommodation, depending on availability.

Day 3 : Big 5 Safari & Return to Cape Town

Experience a 4x4 safari in a malaria-free private game reserve, where you can see giraffe, white rhino, kudu, lion, elephant, zebra, wildebeest and more. An experienced game ranger will guide you on the safari and on a short ±5 min bush walk, where you can get closer to nature and learn about the wildlife, plants and tracks. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Garden Route as you return to Cape Town. You will arrive by late afternoon or early evening (between 17:00 and 21:00 depending on traffic and drop-off address).
