Sandwich Harbour is home to an array of migratory and resident bird species. Some of the birds you should spot include the Great White pelicans, Damara tern, Lesser flamingo, sanderling, and chestnut-banded plover, depending on which time of the year you visit.

The Walvis Bay area was once a busy commercial port where whaling and small-scale fishing took place. The Namib Desert is a dream destination for photography and nature enthusiasts. Four-wheel driving on the massive sand dunes is an experience on its own and of course, there’s a lot on offer in the area if you’re interested in the history and culture of the region.
Departure
We pick you up in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund. There’s a short safety briefing before we get on our way.
Walvis Bay Lagoon & salt refinery
We make our way to the Walvis Bay Lagoon which is home to an abundance of birdlife. It’s a RAMSAR site of significant value. The salt refinery is our next stop. Salt is one of the most important natural resources in the country.
Namib Naukluft National Park
The Namib Naukluft National Park is more than 49 000 km2 in size. Exploring the sand dunes near Sandwich Bay in a 4×4 vehicle is a highlight on any Namibia adventure.
On top of a 100-metre dune in Sandwich Lagoon, you’ll have a brilliant view of the blue ocean waters meeting the sandy brown dunes below. Now is the time to take some photos if you haven’t taken out your camera already.
Enjoy lunch on the dune or in a calm spot in the desert, depending on the wind conditions.
Return to Walvis Bay
We make our way back to Walvis Bay, looking for wildlife on our way back to the drop-off point.
