As you move into the 75,000-hectare reserve, the wooded hills of Madikwe give way to flat savannah plains with deep red soil and sekelbos thickets that stretch into the dry, yellow-sanded Kalahari plains. It is one of Africa’s beautiful range of biomes where the famous “Big Five” and many other mammal species roam freely.
In the western parts of the park, the Kalahari plains change into more familiar lowveld savannah and acacia thickets, while the hillsides and riverine areas have more wooded areas that are perfect for a wide variety of wildlife. This is one of the few places in Africa where you can see Aardwolves, Brown Hyenas, and Spotted Hyenas all in the same reserve.

The Madikwe Game Reserve is a great place to see Africa’s Big Five. It is also home to healthy populations of cheetahs and wild dogs, as well as africa’s secret seven, which are the aardvark, african wild cat, civet, large spotted genet, pangolin, porcupine, and serval.

Lepala Lodge is known as The Family Lodge. In one of its 12 luxury suites, you can feel at ease and at home. This place is good for families with kids of any age to stay. The kids en-suite bedroom is cheerfully decorated and equipped with games and toys.
On a Family Safari, you can see the African bushveld or let your kids have fun with the kids’ activities.
Each suite comprises a King / twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, indoor and outdoor shower, a kiddies bedroom with bunk beds in 4 of the suites, and a private viewing deck with plunge pool.
Kopano Lodge is known as a very private and intimate lodge. It consists of only four suites guaranteeing you a comforting stay in a private atmosphere. The lodge is perfect for couples, who need some time for themselves or want to celebrate an anniversary or honeymoon.
Each of the four suites comprise a King / twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, indoor and outdoor shower, and a private viewing deck with plunge pool.
Dithaba Lodge offers rooms with views to die for. Situated on the mountain, it consists of only four suites with fascinating views over the immense plains. The lodge is especially convenient for groups who want to experience an exclusive safari adventure together.
