Franschhoek Valley Wine Farms
The historic Franschhoek Valley boasts a wide variety of wine farms, the one more enchanting than the other. Some wineries are small and intimate, while others showcase expansive vineyards and large cellars. The restaurants at these wine estates serve the most appetizing meals to pair perfectly with the farm’s wines. Franschhoek Valley isn’t referred to as the ‘Wine & Gourmet Capital of South Africa’ for no reason.
Wine Tram & Tram Bus
A vintage wine tram and open-air tram bus are definitely factors that contribute to the popularity of this tour. The trams and tram buses depart from the wine farms at 30-minute intervals for guests to travel from one wine estate to the next as they please.
Some of the world’s best wines are produced in South Africa and Franschhoek is home to some of the finest wine estates in the Cape Winelands. This tour gives you a taste of Franschhoek’s award-winning wines and insight into why they call the popular tourist town the “Wine & Gourmet Capital of South Africa”.
The Franschhoek Wine Tram Wine Explorer Tour allows you to experience the pristine Franschhoek Valley in an unconventional way. Hop on and hop off a customised tram at any of the 8 wine estates along the route throughout the day and enjoy a fascinating day in the heart of the historic French Huguenot village. Leave your wine purchases with your tram driver and collect later before heading back to Cape Town.
Depart from the V&A Waterfront
Leave Cape Town in a luxury tour coach with free onboard Wi-Fi. We take a scenic route to Franschhoek, arriving at the wine tram office just over an hour after leaving the V&A Waterfront.
Franschhoek Wine Tram Explorer Tour
Hop on the Franschhoek Wine Tram for either the RED or Blue routes, and hop off at any of the wine farms along the route. Stroll through the beautiful vineyards, do a wine-tasting and cellar tour and treat your taste buds to delectable meals at the restaurants on the wine estates. You can purchase a few of your favourite Franschhoek wines to take home.
Return to V&A Waterfront
After a gorgeous day in the charming Franschhoek Valley, we head back to Cape Town; arriving late afternoon at different stops at the V&A Waterfront.

Tickets are only valid for the day that the tour is booked.
Tours depart on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Winelands Tour departs on other days of the week.
